For the first time in a long while Point Clear was disappointing for me today. Lots of Felixstowe wahoo sailors turned out on what was a very good forecast for F4/5 and a afternoon high tide.
Early start so plenty of time to think about it on the green. Neil was GP and was having a great sail on 130/7.5, so rigged 7.8/ Fox 120, but wallowed into the lagoon. First time on the board and with zilch in the lagoon, it was a bit of a disaster as I ran aground and got stuck in the mud, messing up a clean board.
Most sailors were planing with gusts which was disappointing for me. Rigged 8.5 and my big floaty foil board 147L Ultrasonic. Much better and at least I could hook in and past some of my Felixstowe crew winding me up! Useful board this as it foils and sail fin great. The 55cm fin was a bit draggy in the bumps and swell but lift up easy with a couple of pumps when gusts came. Had a great long run into the River Colne past East Mersea. Me and Cuttsy were having a chase but he turned back as it was very bumpy and the wind started to get light.
Sailed all the way back into the lagoon and was powered up for the first time there, so I could hook in.
The outside sea was more windy today, but the sea wasn't nice. The best wind was first thing when Neil launched. Not a bad day and good company so great workout. 3/4 starts
